This is one of the most amazing studios in Hollywood. Of course I haven’t been to every studio but Alexia Robinson’s Studios is definitely among the best. I’m happy to have found such a great studio on my 3rd try. The class sizes are capped to 12 people so that everyone gets a chance to work; unlike another studio where there was over 20 people in the class! Only 3 scenes had gone up by 11pm and everyone else was pushed back to next week. As an actor paying a monthly fee to come to class 4 days out of the month I expect to get my money’s worth.

ARS is a nuturing studio that really cares about all of its students. The teachers take time to focus on your scene, give you a chance to analyze your performance and guide you to outstanding characteric work. Everyone usually begins in the Tuesday beginner class, whether you’re experienced or not, just to get you acclomated with the style of the studio.  Once you have worked a few pieces, the teacher will evaluate your work and continue you in the Tuesday class or move you up to the advanced course.

A great majority of Alexia’s students in the advanced and master classes are working actors. That means they are actually booking jobs! Also,  Alexia Robinson has been in the industry for so many years so she has the advantage of promoting her students to industry professionals, which clearly works in the favor of the actor.

ARS also provides classes for children and teens. So if your looking for a great class to get your child in and get them ready for the professional world of acting or just a great extracirricular activy, I would suggest this studio. This blog is catered towards the adult actor, so if you would like more info on the childrens/teens classes please visit the website.

And the price, good ba-jeezus, it is expensive! But I promise you it is worth every dime ( and you can write it off on your taxes :) The great thing about ARS is they also offer a work study program for students who desire to train but can’t afford the full price. After an interview process and depending on availability in the program, Alexia selects students to participate in the program and awards a shcolarship for a portion of  your tuition. ( I know this because I’m currently in the workstudy program). All in all, I give the studio an A+.

They offer free audits on Thursday’s and I highly recommend you get in and see this studio.

Pros

  • You get exceptional training and the teachers really focus on each individual
  •  There is a work study program to assist those who are serious about their career
  • The Director of the studio is well connected and will fight for her students when it comes to work
  • Any Directors who hosts auditions at ARS must give Alexia’s students automatic audition slots for those interested in the project ( I was booked for a play through one of these auditions)

Cons

  • I really can’t think of anything that ARS is lacking. But if something ever comes up; I’ll be sure to update this page!
